Cannabigerol (CBG), like THC and CBD, is a chemical compound found naturally in cannabis. This cannabinoid is frequently found in very low concentrations (less than 1%) in hemp and cannabis biomass. Though Bulk CBG Distillate is classified as a minor cannabinoid, recent research indicates that it may have significant health benefits.
CBGA is the acidic form of Bulk CBG Distillate and is thought to be the forerunner of all other cannabinoid lines (which include THC and CBD after the decarboxylation process). CBGA degrades into tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), cannabichromenic acid (CBCA), and very small concentrations of other cannabinoids such as CBG as cannabis plants age or are exposed to heat.
What Are CBG’s Potential Health Benefits?
Recent CBG research suggests that this cannabinoid may provide remarkable health benefits. As a result, there is a growing demand for CBG distillate products to treat a variety of ailments, including:
It should be noted that Bulk CBG Distillate research is still in its early stages, and these claims will need to be validated by additional research. More information is available here.
- Glaucoma
- The disease Huntington’s
- Cancer
- Disorders of Bladder Dysfunction
- Infections caused by bacteria
- Anxiety and depression
- Seizures due to epilepsy
- Insomnia
- Irritation of the skin
How is CBG Extracted From Cannabis?
Because CBG naturally occurs in such low concentrations in cannabis, the journey to isolating pure Bulk CBG Distillate extract begins with breeding and cultivation. Interbreeding strains with high CBG concentrations improves your ability to extract the cannabinoid, and harvesting plants earlier in the growth cycle increases the likelihood that the CBGA has not been converted into other cannabinoids.
CBG is extracted from cannabis biomass using a method similar to that used to extract CBD or THC. Bona Voluntate labs create cannabis distillate using a closed-loop ethanol extraction process, followed by a separate process that separates CBG from other cannabinoids.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBG AND CBD?
CBG is a truly one-of-a-kind cannabinoid. CBG is often referred to as the “mother” of all cannabinoids because it is the starting point for the synthesis of 100s of other cannabinoids. Cannabigerol is the source of CBD, CBN, and CBC. In terms of effects, Bulk CBG Distillate interaction with our Endocannabinoid System is unparalleled. CBG has been shown in studies to interact with both the CB1 and CB2 receptors. CBG has the potential to provide incredible benefits to consumers while also adding significant value to brands and finished products.
At the moment, CBD-rich hemp is abundant, but good CBG genetics are much more difficult to come by. Bona Voluntate’s team consists of the most talented cultivators, ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality CBG biomass. CBG Isolate formulates similarly to CBD Isolate in terms of ingredient usability. Manufacturers who already use CBD Isolate should have no trouble incorporating this cannabinoid. While new ingredients can often cause uncertainty, you can rely on Bona Voluntate to accurately test and characterise CBG.
CBG’S POTENTIAL BENEFITS
We are unable to make any direct claims about the benefits of CBG, as we are with CBD. Numerous studies on the molecule and its interactions with the Endocannabinoid System have been conducted. As always, we recommend consulting reputable sources to learn more about CBG and its potential benefits, while keeping in mind that more scientific evidence is required.
Recent medical research suggests that CBG may have significant benefits for inflammation, anxiety relief, certain types of cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. CBG also appears to have significant muscle-relaxing and neuroprotective properties. Furthermore, older and newer studies support CBG’s analgesic, anti-erythemic, antibacterial, antidepressant, and antihypertensive properties.
