Location
Kedarkantha is one of the peaks of the Great Himalayas having a height of approx 12,500 ft (3,800 m). It is located in the Govind wildlife sanctuary of Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. This trek requires around 4 days for completion and it starts from a small village Sankri in the Uttarkashi district.
How to reach to the base of kedarkantha trek:
For trekking in Kedarkantha, one has to reach the village of sankri which is at a distance of 200km from Dehradun. So you have to reach Dehradun from where you can take bus which takes around 10 hours to reach Sankri.

By road:
The city of Dehradun is very well connected with almost all major cities of North India. There are two bus stands which offer the journey from various cities to Dehradun.
By railways:
The city of Dehradun is also well connected with almost all major cities of India with well maintained railway lines.
By Air:
Dehradun city has an airport named Jolly Grant airport which provides daily connectivity with most of the major Indian cities through air.
Best time to go for Kedarkantha trek:
The obvious best time to go trekking to Kedarkantha Mountains is the winter time when the peaks of the mountain and other mountains are covered with the lustrous snow which I guarantee would allow you to experience the view of Heaven.
Although you can also visit Kedarkantha during the summers, during this time, there would be no snow on the peaks of these mountains and this trek would just be like some other normal trek. So I would definitely recommend you to go there during the winter season.
Difficulty of the trek:
If we compare this trek on the scale of difficulty , then it would be in the range of easy to moderate difficulty. Children above the age of 5 are allowed for the trek so this trek is ideal for the people who have children with them in the tek. Short itenary on the trek:
The Kedarkantha summit is at the height of 12,500 ft and the trek starts from the village Sankri. This is the first stop for the tek. Here you can have your breakfast.
Then you will slowly move to Juda ka taal where you take the heart throbbing view of the beautiful experience.
There are several campsites on your way to the top where you can rest, have meals and can also indulge in many fun activities like snowman making, snowball fighting, etc.
Although the main motive of the journey is to reach the top, the adventures and experiences of the journey has its own worth.
